3 Months Later…

I realised I haven’t done a…regular post in years. Not that I have an avid reading crowd that follows my blog, but sometimes it’s helpful to just capture everything in one place. Mainly so that I can read it years later and laugh at my old-self and how naive (or stupid) I was.

Nevertheless, I will begin by talking about how amazing 2020 has been. Not. Okay maybe. To begin with, let me just shed light on the fact that we are already in the third month of the first quarter of 2020. This goes to show how fast time goes when you’re procrastinating (at least in my case, considering I haven’t written a post in months!)

Also, I want to briefly touch upon how 2020 has been a year of shit news so far – Fires in Australia, “World War 3”, Trump’s fail impeachment, CAA in India, Coronavirus, Kobe Bryant’s death, GLOBAL WARMING (cannot stress enough on this one), and the list is endless. Granted that the world has been shit for a long time now, but I think the fact that the first quarter of 2020 is just getting over, and we’ve already faced so many things, makes me wonder what the rest of the year has in store for us. Or is it one of those “Bump on the road, will get better soon” type situations?

Of all the shit news, I do want to talk about Global Warming. Only because the winter I experienced in Canada was one of the mildest so far! And I want to laugh at people who cracked Eskimo jokes when I was moving here, but I think the joke’s on all of us if I used my heavy winter jacket only once this winter. I also shouldn’t be one to preach because I don’t know what I’m doing to contribute to this either. I read an article recently that something as simple as online shopping has an impact on global warming. If items are returned or need to be redelivered, the carbon footprint goes up. Do you know how awful I felt considering I buy basic things through Amazon or clothes through Shein?

So this year, I’m trying to be more mindful of how my actions are affecting the environment. Trying to eat a more plant based diet, carrying my own reusable shopping bags to a store, walk if a distance is small, avoid online shopping as much as possible…but I still think it’s not enough. So if you have any suggestions on what an individual person can do to contribute even 0.00000001% to the betterment of the current global warming situation, please leave a comment below or text me because I know you’re the only one reading my blog, Amma.

I’m also bringing back the “giving thanks” section at the end of my blog, thanks to Seniinthebox. I feel like it helps you stay grounded, be thankful for the little things in life, be more appreciative and help create that positive vibe you really need in today’s world. I’m also practicing a daily dose of giving thanks, but that’s in my journal, inspired by Pick Up Limes. I start that this week, and now that I’ve made myself accountable (to the one reader of this blog), hopefully I stick to it!

On that note, things I’ve been thankful for the last three months:

  1. Family – always. and forever.
  2. Friends – you know who you are.
  3. Preethi – for being that voice of reason we all need in life.
  4. Toronto – for being a city of new experiences, always.
  5. Reddit – for all the puns.
  6. Coffee – for existing.
  7. CC Lounge – for happy hour and perfect photos.
  8. Escape Rooms – allowing me to escape reality.
  9. Netflix – for entertainment while my friends were away.
  10. Workouts – for reminding me to be stronger every day.

Song of the day (starting Monday off on a good note):

Adore You – Harry Styles

    1. Thank you so much, Uncle! Appreciate it. A small action goes a larger way, so amazing! 🙂

  1. Just FYI. I read your blogs everytime I come across your post in LinkedIn or Facebook (though I am officially out of Facebook). So, it’s not just your Amma… 😉
Well, coming to your question on Global warming. Shouldn’t usage of plastics top the list here. Back in India, plastics are used for everything, from kitchen to restroom. I think, as sensible citizens, if we cut down on that, it would be a great first step.

    1. Thank you so much! 🙂

And very valid point! Plastic usage is actually a huge concern worldwide. We need to be conscious of our usage of it. Thank you for raising a valid issue.
