To the country that taught me kindness is all that matters,
To the country that puts others ahead,
To the people I grew up with, that never made me feel left out,
To the friends I made, that are still in my life today,
and to those that are not, but I know I’m in their prayers;
To the warmest of hearts I’ve ever come across,
To the land where nature is predominant,
To the deep blue skies, and rushing waters of the Zambezi,
that fall into the mighty Mosi-Oa-Tunya
To the childhood years that were made of climbing hills and
getting lost in the wild,
To the country that understood the sense of community,
But most of all, to the land that taught us to keep on going,
to keep smiling, to stay grounded, and to be humble.
Natotela, Zambia. To you, I give all my thanks, for making me who I am today.
Happy Independence Day to my home, Zambia.
