People who say “Age is just a number”…to you I say, “And money is just paper.”
No but seriously. I never realised how old I was till I met this 15 year old this week. And it was something as simple as her being able to hear her phone ring, and me not able to hear it. Now I know that’s probably because I listen to a lot of music and my ears are damaged, but so does she!! And her behaviour, her thoughts on things…all reminded me of how I was at her age. And the moment of “oh shit. I’m old.” was when she asked me for advice on her future career.
That’s when it hit me…I’m not a student anymore. I’ve finished a year of work. I’m an adult…doing adult stuff. A year ago I didn’t even know how taxes worked and now I’ve done them twice! TWICE!! Dafaq. I guess the baffling part of all this is how I don’t feel like an adult at all. You would think my conversations at work entail intelligent PR and tech things…but no. I still talk about sleep, food, how cute dogs are, why coffee is essential to life, Friends (the TV show) and music. The most profound conversation I’ve probably had is what animal each of us are…and not spiritually, but resemblance wise. Sad. I know.

Point is, I am thankful for the following things this week:
- My family
- The best friend, for ensuring I eat food
- Edelman, for making #Edelman64 an amazing experience!
- Pink, the movie, for sensible film making
What are you thankful for this week? 🙂
