This one is dedicated to an old friend, Bhavya 🙂
So we got talking, and discussed how having lived abroad and in her case, worked abroad as well, moving back to India and working in the environment here would be a whole new experience. The people are different, the workplace is different, the processes are somewhat different, and even the content (to a certain extent) is different.
Change is inevitable and I’ve always said this in all my posts. Was I scared to move to India? Definitely. I was going to start my career in a country I barely knew, even if it is where I was born. So I jumped into a new job and country like a clueless panda, and you know what? I may have complained about it, but I would have had it no other way. The competition in India is something I will never have got to experience anywhere else. The competitive nature is what made me learn what I have the past year.
Graduate schemes and entry level jobs abroad are no doubt helpful, and get you well equipped on the processes and other formalities of a new job. But sometimes being thrown in the deep-end still teaches you how to swim eventually…I mean that’s how I learnt (both swimming and my role at my current job).
Sometimes you just have to face your challenges and when you feel like giving up, remind yourself why you’re doing this. Do what you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life again.
As Michelle Khare said in her video, “It doesn’t matter the name of the company you work for, all the perks they offer, or how cool it sounds to your friends. What really matters is how you feel spending 40 plus hours a week in that place. And if it’s not fulfilling you, then you gotta try something different.”
The week was super lazy given we had 2 days off, and I took 1 day off! It was Ganesh Chathurthi so I got to experience that in full fledged traditional ways (with the extended family), which was quite interesting (and not to mention filled with so much delicious food I could barely move that day). The sister has finally started getting addicted to Instagram, and has also created a profile for this cutie. Do check them out! Oh and if you’re in Bangalore and love Cinnabon, they’ve opened in Mantri Mall!
Also, Happy Birthday Sharang! 🙂
And ending on a musical note (see what I did there?), I’ve totally been addicted to the song of the week, so do check it out below (I’m listening to it right now).
Things I am thankful for this week:
- My family
- My sister (yes she’s family but this week, she’s been extra crazy, and I’m thankful for this)
- The best friend, for existing
- Completing a year at my current job
- Bhavya, for getting in touch
- The 2 days off
What are you thankful for?
Song of the week:
